In contrast to the percentage observed in the CD4+CD25hi T cells, the median percentage of Foxp3+ Treg (CD4+CD25hiFOXP3+ T cells) for the total number of CD4+ T cells among the unexposed controls was high (14%, N = 21) but not significant when compared with the percentage observed for the acute infection group (7%, N = 35, P = 0.2) and the uninfected malaria-exposed controls (10%, N = 16, P = 0.1). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and malaria.
