BLCAP and breast carcinoma: Moderate to strong BLCAP immunoreactivity could also be observed in early lesions, where carcinoma in situ cells showed overexpression of this protein (illustrated in Fig. 2H, grey arrows) in relation to normal adjacent areas (black arrow), and at levels comparable to invasive carcinoma cells (Fig. 2H, red arrow), suggesting that up-regulation of BLCAP, when it takes place, is most likely an early event in breast cancer progression.
