We demonstrated that the ability of macrophages and IL1β to inhibit TRAIL-induced apoptosis and to promote clonogenic growth of tumor cells was also inhibited in tumor cells with silenced Snail expression [13], demonstrating that Snail regulates several steps in colon cancer progression and pointing to a crucial role of Snail in the crosstalk between tumor cells and macrophages. This evidence concerns the gene TNFSF10 and malignant colon neoplasm.
