S100B and Stroke: Twenty nine molecules (GST-π, PARK7, H-FABP, NDKA, UFD1, S100β, Troponin I, p-Selectin, E-selectin, MMP-1, MMP-3, CRP, NT-proBNP, VCAM, ICAM, IL-1 ra, IL-1b, IL-6, IL-8, IL-9, IL-10, CXCL-10, G-CSF, IFN-γ, MCP-1, MIP-1α, MIP-1 β, VEGF and TNF-α) were tested by immunoassays on the blood samples of cohort 1 (132 control and 103 stroke patients with time after symptom onset ≤36 h, general description in Table 1) and classified according to the significance obtained for concentration differences between control and stroke patients (Mann-Whitney U tests, Table 2).
