Among the 31 SNPs genotyped, seven SNPs were nominally associated with RA (P<0.05), which included SNPs in the tumor necrosis factor, alpha-induced protein 3 (TNFAIP3 [MIM 191163]), and signal transducer and the activator of transcription 4 (STAT4 [MIM 600558]) gene loci that were previously reported to be associated with RA [13], [14] (Table S2). The gene discussed is STAT4; the disease is rheumatoid arthritis.
