CADM1 and neoplasm: Further, the role of Cadm1 as a tumor-autonomous component of immune surveillance is consistent with our observations that 1) knockdown of endogenous Cadm1 potentiates metastatic capability, and 2) pulmonary metastases have lost expression of exogenous Cadm1. Together with the numerous [10]–[14] reports in the literature that Cadm1 expression is lost in more invasive tumors, our data implicates Cadm1 loss as an important step in cancer immunoediting that enhances the immune evasive and metastatic properties of tumor cells.
