MTOR and schizophrenia: Based on identification of several proteins of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway (including mTOR itself, Raptor, Neurofibromin 1 and Vps34, a class III phosphatidyl inositol 3-kinase), we then undertook an extensive suite of in vivo studies to determine whether 5-HT6 receptor engagement of mTOR contributes to their deleterious influence upon cognition, specifically in developmental models of schizophrenia.
