It has been recently reported that HDAC inhibitors and EP300 (which encodes the E1A binding protein) are directly responsible for the up-regulation of microRNA-24 (miR-224), which is one of the most commonly up-regulated microRNAs in HCC that affect crucial cellular processes such as apoptosis and cell proliferation (33). This evidence concerns the gene HDAC9 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
