Increased plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI) and thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) levels and decreased tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI), thrombomodulin (TM), and tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) levels have been associated with several thrombotic conditions like venous thromboembolism, ischemic stroke, and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (10,11,12,13,14,15). The gene discussed is TFPI; the disease is venous thromboembolism.
