Polymorphisms in the IL10 gene region have been reported to be associated with ulcerative colitis (UC) (Franke et al., 2008), type I diabetes (Barrett et al., 2009), and severe juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (Crawley et al., 1999), and mutations in the genes encoding the subunits of the IL-10R were found in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) (Glocker et al., 2009). This evidence concerns the gene IL10RA and inflammatory bowel disease.
