In summary, our study on the autocrine Shh is the first demonstration of a new Shh ligand secretion manner and new mechanism of anti-inflammation function via upregulation of IL-10 in the cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis, and would have significant implications for the investigation of Hh pathway signaling in acute pancreatitis as well as lead to the development of more effective therapeutic guidelines for clinical applications. This evidence concerns the gene IL10 and acute pancreatitis.
