Individuals in the two highest YKL-40 quartiles had a higher prevalence of diabetes (p<0.0001), angina pectoris (p<0.001) and previous cases of MI (p<0.002), and for the highest YKL-40 quartile alone also a higher prevalence of claudicatio intermittens (p<0.0001). This evidence concerns the gene CHI3L1 and myocardial infarction.
