ROCK1 and melanoma: ROCK paralog control of global endothelial cell transcription. Despite the primary focus of most published studies emphasizing ROCK’s regulation of the phosphoproteome, a handful of reports using non-selective pharmacological inhibitors of ROCK1 & 2 activity have demonstrated large scale alterations in global gene expression of in vivo melanoma tumors and in vitro epithelial, endothelial, and mesenchymal cells [23, 29-31], though no distinction has been made regarding the individual ROCK paralog contributions to gene expression.
