STAT3 and cancer: Attempts to suppress STAT3 expression have been made using tyrosine kinase inhibitors12,13, antisense oligonucleotides14, decoy oligonucleotides15, dominant-negative STAT3 protein16,17 and RNA interference (RNAi).18,19In vitro studies have shown that the inhibition of STAT3 activity in human cancer cells can induce the apoptosis and/or the growth arrest.
