Our results showed some similarities with the studies involving postmenopausal osteoporotic women, whereby the antioxidant parameters such as the total antioxidant capacity (TAC), plasma activity of SOD, catalase, and glutathione reductase were significantly increased compared to normal women, but this physiological elevation in the antioxidants was not enough to prevent the development of osteoporosis [26, 27]. This evidence concerns the gene CAT and osteoporosis.
