While investigating islet function and secretion during early development of PanCa, Permert et al. found that plasma glucagon and islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) were significantly increased at 12 and 27 weeks, respectively, showing that islet hormone changes accompany the early development of pancreatic tumors in the hamster pancreatic cancer model [29]. This evidence concerns the gene GCG and pancreatic neoplasm.
