We showed that the in vivo inhibition of eEF-2K induced the down-regulation of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 [32], [58] (Figure 4C), which is notable because we have shown previously that in vivo targeted silencing of Bcl-2 by liposomal Bcl-2 siRNA inhibits growth of Bcl-2-expressing breast cancer tumors, including MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 tumors, in nude mice [59].
