Importantly, the correlation between 5p13 copy number and increased phosphorylation of the p70 S6 kinase mTOR substrate in NSCLC tumor specimens links GOLPH3 function to mTOR activation [11] and indicates that GOLPH3 tumorigenesis may be mediated by mTOR signaling [13].
