PKR gene quantification was found to be a reliable test to predict HCC development and a cut-off value of 27 was obtained with high sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy, in which cases with PKR >27 were more likely to be involved with HCC than those with level <27 (P < 0.0001) as shown in (Figure 1). The gene discussed is EIF2AK2; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
