The time to recurrence was improved by ∼4-fold with the addition of Stat3 inhibitor to conventional chemotherapy compared to chemotherapy alone, with 30-day tumor recurrence rate of 20% (95% CI: 0.01–0.58) vs. 83% (95% CI: 0.27–0.97) (p = 0.03, Wilcoxon test) (Fig. 4), thus confirming that Stat3 inhibition decreased the TIC subpopulation and improved survival (Table S3). This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and neoplasm.
