CD4 and HIV-1 infection: Interestingly, a promoter analysis of the genes modulated in HIV-1-infected cells reveals that 57% of DEGs identified in this study and 70% of core genes (differentially expressed at 3 time points) contain at least one binding site for AP-1 (Figure S2), confirming that this transcription factor is one of the core determinants of the cellular environment that is most favorable to productive HIV-1 infection in primary human CD4+ T cells.
