PPARγ is crucial for insulin sensitivity and its agonists, such as TZDs, cause repartitioning of fat and lipids from insulin responsive tissues, such as muscle and liver, into white fat depots to enhance whole body insulin sensitivity; TZDs also function through PPARγ to regulate TNFα and resistin expression, both of which are involved in insulin resistance [1], [4].
