Phosphorylation of GSK-3β on serine 9 by Akt inhibits GSK-3β activity [148], and in ALK+ ALCL this has been argued to be important for preventing GSK-3β from phosphorylating, and targeting for degradation, the antiapoptotic protein Mcl-1 and the positive cell cycle-regulator, phosphatase CDC25A [149]. This evidence concerns the gene ALK and anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
