IL10 and chronic hepatitis C virus infection: Several lines of evidence indicate that the host antiviral response may be compromised during chronic HCV infection: high serum levels of IL-4 and IL-10 have been observed in patients with chronic hepatitis C [7]–[8], and a favourable clinical response to interferon therapy appeared to be associated with a reduction of TH2 cytokine levels and promotion of TH1-mediated immune responses [9]–[10].
