More importantly, four specific genes (CA12, GALNT7, LMO3, and SLC43A3) were previously reported by Stein et al. to be uniquely deregulated in post-Chernobyl thyroid cancers [19] and one gene (FAM38A) was previously identified by Ory et al. in a study of thyroid cancer following irradiation for a first primary cancer in childhood [27]. The gene discussed is GALNT7; the disease is thyroid gland carcinoma.
