Finally, in response to mono-infection by P. minutus, reduced glutathione (GSH), γ-glutamylcysteine ligase (GCL) and metallothionein (MT) levels increased as compared to uninfected controls or to mono-infection by D. roeselum, but in response to bi-infection, the levels of these toxicity markers were restored to the level of uninfected individuals (Figures 1C, 1D & 1E).
