Our previous study, in which an adenoviral vector was used, demonstrated that overexpression of IL-17 was capable of recapitulating SjS phenotypes (lowered saliva secretion and increased autoantibodies) in normal C57BL/6J mice and, at the same time, showed differential immunological or biological responses depending on the age of mice at the time of treatment [34]. The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is Schwartz-Jampel syndrome.
