The significance of chemokines (CCL2 [monocyte chemotactic protein-1], CCL5 [RANTES] and CX3CL1 [fractalkine]) and their receptors (CCR2, CCR5 and CX3CR1) in atherosclerosis has been demonstrated in animal models and clinical studies [8]–[10]. Here, CCL5 is linked to atherosclerosis.
