Given the known role of host factors in anti-VEGF-A resistance [21] and the stroma’s influence on cancer phenotype and aggressiveness and on patient outcome [22], we determined the protein expression of VEGF-A, VEGF-R1, and VEGF-R2 in a large set of IBC cases and correlated this expression level with known biomarkers, lymph node (LN) status, endocrine treatment, and breast cancer-specific (BCSS) and disease-free survival (DFS) duration. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is inflammatory breast carcinoma.
