Significantly elevated serum S100A12 concentrations were seen in both IBD groups (median 242 ng/mL for CD and median 223 ng/mL for UC) and non-IBD inflammatory controls (median 94.7 ng/mL) compared with healthy individuals (53.5 ng/mL, P < 0.01). The gene discussed is S100A12; the disease is irritable bowel syndrome.
