Since Rac-GTPases are master regulators of cytoskeletal remodeling in response to cues from the extra-cellular microenvironment, we studied whether modulation of protein 14-3-3ζ-Rac1 signaling in prostate cancer cells will have any effect on their ability to recognize and bind to ECM proteins such as fibronectin (FN), vitronectin (VN), collagen I (COLL-I) and laminin (LN), which are abundantly expressed in various tissues harboring prostate cancer cells. The gene discussed is LAMB2; the disease is Familial prostate cancer.
