To our knowledge, there have been only three previous reports investigating the association between all the three microsatellites (ESR1_TA, ESR2_CA, and AR_CAG) and risk of breast cancer in women [15], [16], [24], and the present study is the first to evaluate the risk impact of these microsatellites in hormonal receptor genes and the germline susceptibility to breast cancer in an indigenous African population. The gene discussed is NR4A1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
