TERT and squamous cell carcinoma: Gains in chromosome 3q26 commonly represent chromosomal instability in squamous cell cancers and adenocarcinomas, independent of specific TERT overexpression, and are found in a high proportion of head and neck [36], lung [37], esophageal [38], colon [39], pancreatic [40], breast [41], cervix [42] and vulvar cancers [43].
