Type 2 diabetes has been involved in innate immune system disorder with chronic low-grade inflammation [62, 63], and many studies have shown that serum/plasma levels of inflammatory markers represented by TNF-α and IL-6 in patients with elevated fasting blood glucose are independent values predictive of development of diabetes, thereby adipose tissue being the major source of these cytokines [64, 65]. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and diabetes mellitus.
