The search for genetic variants that modify asthma susceptibility has resulted in the most recent multi-center asthma genome-wide association studies (GWAS) providing strong statistical evidence for the association of many genes, including the IKZF3-ZPBP2-GSDMB-ORMDL3 locus, HLA-DQ, IL1RL1, IL18RL1, IL33, TSLP, SLC22A5, SMAD3, and RORA, with asthma [9], [10]. This evidence concerns the gene IL33 and asthma.
