More recently, C75, a synthetic analogue of cerulenin or (−)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), the main polyphenolic catechin of the green tea, have been identified as FASN inhibitors, able to induce apoptosis in several tumour cell lines and also to reduce the size of mammary tumours in animal models [8,20-24]. The gene discussed is FASN; the disease is neoplasm.
