To analyze the effect of ginger on hematopoietic progenitors, we used whole-mount in situ hybridization to detect the expression of cmyb transcription factor (a marker of immature hematopoietic cells whose expression decreases as these cells differentiate) and stem cell leukemia hematopoietic transcription factor, also named T-cell acute lymphocytic leukemia 1 (scl/tal1, a marker for hemangioblasts, already fated to become hematopoietic cells). This evidence concerns the gene TAL1 and acute leukemia.
