The pathogenesis of the myocardial dysfunction in sepsis is multifactorial, both intrinsic myocardial depression [6] and factors secondary to the acidosis, hypotension, hypoxia and circulating inflammatory factors (IL-1β, TNFα, platelet-activating factor, lysozyme, nitric oxide, and free radicals) may play important roles [7], [8], [9].
