LeFreche et al. [39], [40] further showed that cognitive dysfunction following sevoflurane anesthesia was associated with hyper-phosphorylation of the MT-associated protein (MAP) tau, separation of tau from MTs, and MT instability, the same signs associated with neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) in Alzheimer’s disease. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
