In contrast, the serial test, with fixed cutoff thresholds of 7.16 ppm hnRNP K and 100 ng/mL AFP, requires that both hnRNP K and AFP are abnormal, and it increased specificity and accuracy to 96% and 72.5%, respectively, at the expense of sensitivity (33.33%) when early HCC were compared to late HCC.
