A second study on a mouse model of dietary-induced sporadic colon cancer showed that the very first measurable change before tumor onset consists of ectopic expression of Paneth cell markers together with transcriptional activation of Fzd5 and EphB2, two members of the Wnt signaling cascade necessary for Paneth cell differentiation and localization [51]. This evidence concerns the gene FZD5 and colonic neoplasm.
