In benign and malignant lesions of human carcinoma of tongue, the apical membrane expression of CEACAM5 changes to a distinct uniform membrane staining in an early stage of malignant transformation, and the incident of the uniform membrane expression might be due to a loss of or reduction in the interaction among the adhesion molecules with its binding molecules, implicating an important shift towards the malignant phenotype [19]. Here, CEACAM5 is linked to tongue cancer.
