Indeed, Bax-inhibiting peptides were abundantly used in a number of works, which point out the relevance of Bax-Ku70 interaction in apoptosis induction, that is, in the susceptibility of cell death of human laminin-alpha2-deficient myotubes and mouse models of congenital muscular dystrophy [60]; in the protection of cells from polyglutamine toxicity caused by Ku70 acetylation [61]; or in the reduction of neuronal death and behavioral deficits following global cerebral ischemia [62]. The gene discussed is BAX; the disease is congenital muscular dystrophy.
