IFN-α in SLE patients can be produced by pDCs in response to continuous stimulation by circulating immune complexes [9] that are internalized by CD32 (FcγRIIA), with subsequent detection of DNA and RNA by endosomal TLR-9 and TLR-7 in pDCs [10,21]. The gene discussed is IFNA1; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
