In view of the important role of TGF-β during the parasite life cycle and in development of infection, the present study contributes for the elucidation of T. cruzi epimastigote proteins that may be involved in many biological processes in which TGF-β participates, such as invasion, proliferation, differentiation and survival, thereby reinforcing the importance of this molecule in the different forms and stages of the T. cruzi life cycle. The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is infection.
