CAV3 and epilepsy: Dynamic clamp simulations suggest that minimal changes in the biophysical properties of the Cav3 channel currents, especially in the voltage range corresponding to the base of the current-voltage curve, drastically alter the contribution of Cav3 channels to calcium spikes [30], such as the low threshold calcium spikes in the thalamus characterized in states such as physiological sleep or pathological states such as epilepsy.
