Interestingly, we found that influenza-specific CD4+ T-cell function was already lost in individuals with relatively high CD4 count and no association was found between CD4 count and influenza-specific proliferative responses, showing that defects in influenza-specific CD4+ T-cell proliferative response happens early in HIV-infection before a global depletion of CD4+ T-cells. This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and HIV infectious disease.
