MPO and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: Both MPO and Fibrinogen were strongly negatively correlated with increasing FEV1/FVC (r  =  −0.61) and DLCO (r  =  −0.52), respectively, in patients without metabolic syndrome (Table 4 and Figure 4), suggesting that neutrophilia and systemic inflammation may be more strongly associated with disease severity in this subgroup of COPD patients.
