Our group has been exploring the over-the-counter laxative polyethylene glycol (PEG) for its remarkable potency at downregulating EGFR and thus providing a potential explanation for its colon cancer chemopreventive efficacy (documented by several groups in a number of pre-clinical models) [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13]. The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is malignant colon neoplasm.
