The convergence of different oncogenic pathways on NF-κB opens the possibility to specifically target this transcription factor or other elements of the pathway for therapeutical intervention in breast cancer, a strategy that is currently tested in patients with cancer-related bone metastases using proteasome inhibitors (18454159) or antibodies against RANKL [PMID 21060033, 17785705, 19237632] ([44]. This evidence concerns the gene TNFSF11 and breast cancer.
